Well Peter since i had left Birmingham in 1981 and I have been back there 3 times 1982 well im not going to tell all the crazy things that happened then but for 1 thing I went back to Homewood to see the ole band room so I went to the office to see if I needed a pass but they said oh we know you just go downstairs to the bandroom there should not be a problem but there just when I got to the lunchroom Mr Farr told me that the state of Alabama said if I dont have a pass that I cant go to the bandroom but it was the way he said it that made me me I told him that I did go to the office to get a pass but he had to make a seen anyway whew so I turned around and kinda stormed out the door never to come back thier till 2005 when we had our 25th reunion and I was amazed of how big the bandroom was with practice rooms and how shocked I was on how big that the school got and that they moved the office to right were you come in with thier big window and the cameras whew im glad that they didnt have cameras back then and I took a look at the rule book now man so many rules but I guess that is the sign of the times I lived in Kentucky for 3 years and Indiana for 1 before I moved to Pennslyvania in 1985 of which I moved so many times here that they thought I was dead but im still here ive lived in my current place for 8 years and I lived in two places for 4 and almost 4 years I have lived in 4 out of the 5 counties that include Philadephia county and 3 others and I am sick of moving but then last year when the Philles won the world series this city went crazy but i didnt go to the parade becuase i slipped on a slippery mat going 50 mph to yell and took a good fall tearing my rotar cuff and i had surgery on it back in may and im still going to phisical therapy man but its almost over now whew so maybe i will go to our 30th reruion but i dont know yet and macys was a cold parade wasnt it and a long one but we all made it so you can leave or anybody else that will see this a message or add me as a friend so dont work to hard peter enjoy it while your here
Hi Peter - we used to run into you occasionally at FUMC Birmingham but it has been awhile. Congrats on the being married and expecting a baby. If you want to catch up with one of the former bandmates, John Simpson is a pediatrician at Vestavia Pediatrics - my kids went to Vest Ped for a LONG time.

What's your fondest memory of the band?
Macy Day Trip in '78: With all due respect to the chaperones and to those who were responsible for looking out for us, the first memory that comes to my mind was that a group of us (primarily in the percussion section) were almost sent home..back to Birmingham from the Statler Hilton before the day of the Parade- due to activities that were against the rules..which would not have been good. Thank god we were given "one more chance" to behave and I'm still able to say I was in the very 1st Homewood Patriot band to march in The Parade!
