Hey Chris... No, I didn't get your e-mail. Charlie/ Tuna said he may have given you the wrong one. Well, I haven't had much of a chance to see of the old crowd... maybe we'll use this to stay in touch.

I like the website very much. Finding it was serendipitous. I have a friend up here who went to high school in Texas. She has been bragging on her high school band and showing me Youtubes of her old halftime shows. I can hardly wait to get over to her house and show her our Macy's shows.

It's great to see some names from the past, too, and to see how everybody's doing. Thanks to you and Scott for setting it up.

Chris!!! How are you?? You look great, Bud! I am doing well. Yes, you and I are blessed to have lots of kids! I lived in Japan (Yokota) from 1988-1990. I really enjoyed it there-the people were very friendly, but it was quite expensive to live there. I didn't get a chance to visit Korea unfortunately. I'm glad to know you are there-maybe I can send you some money to get me a couple of mink blanket or some handbags or something! How long have you lived there? I would love to go to Hong Kong to shop! Keep in touch & I will hit you up later... :)

Awesome! I'm glad she had it and kept the tapes. The movies are unbelievable in their quality after all these years and having been transferred to digital media. Good job

Hey! Wow! Thirty years since the 1979 Macy's Day Parade! OMG time has flown. It seems like a few weeks ago sometimes, yet other times it seems like several lifetimes ago.
What a cool site, thanks to whomever started it up (you!). Odd, to me, that it started up now, I've been thinking a lot lately about the HHS gang.
I've got so much Homewood Memorabilia that I could spend the next two weeks scanning it and recording it. Wonder if I could get paid time off to do it!! LOL
Chris- My second Tuba mentor, after DB. How are you? Where in the world did you come up with those excellent MDP video's? Where you the 1st guy in B'ham to have a VCR/BETA?
I'll be checking back and eventually posting some pictures.
You may be correct about the date of the game. It may have been the 1977 Homecoming which would be the last game for the seniors in the 1978 annual.
Do you ever hear from Andrea Kloss? I think she lives in East L.A. (east lower Alabama).
Are you overseas? Where?

My husband is an aircraft pilot and mechanic. Using small planes, he flew aid workers, doctors, nurses, missionaries, etc. around in Afghanistan and Lesotho. It was an incredible experience. We lived in Lesotho for 3 and a half years, Peshawer, Pakistan for 4 years, and Afghanistan for 6 weeks.

Here's one for you, Chris - saw this yesterday on my 365 Days of Duct Tape calendar

Marching Band Tuba Hint

Hey tuba players! Get ready for the Thanksgiving Day Parade by putting a few strips of duct tape over the bell and you won’t have birds, squirrels, and small children accidentally falling into your tuba.

Hey Chris!

Sorry I haven't gotten back to the site. I've ben dealing with several health issues this summer (I'm doing much better now). It has also been a busy summer playing festivals like Stokin' th Fire at Sloss Furnace and Jazz on the Grass in Montgomery.
We mainly play in Birmingham and we will be at Formaggio's on 10th Avenure South (next to the Purple Onion) this Saturday (September 20th) from 10PM - 2AM. Should be some Homewood folk there. Come on out if you can.
My girlfriend has added lots of pics and video's of us on our my space page - www.myspace.com/georgeandthegmen
Stop by and check us out.

I take it from my sister, Leslie, that this site is your doing. If so, I appreciate your dedication. I do not have a tape of the 1981 parade as Leslie had suggested I might, but I have done something radical, just the same.

Recognizing that one of the Star-Spangled-Girls of that year was Linda Mays, now on the local news here, I have forwarded the link to the parade clip to her co-workers at ABC 13.

I'm thinking that they may have fun with seeing Linda dance... but if news is slow @ Thanksgiving, they may want to clip a moment of Linda dancing, as a human interest story about when this girl was part of the first Alabama band to go to be in the Macy's Parade.

If you start getting new hits around then...

Good luck-

Harold

Very cool to finally be able to see what we looked like on tv. If y'all are interested, I'll see if my folks or Harold can locate the video we made of the 1981 parade (no commercials!) when it broadcast in 1982 on AFN-TV in Germany.

I'm not sure what software he is using. I will pass that on though. I noticed that the DVD had the band performance at Chapter 25. That is about right for 10 minute segments then. Any progress on the audio you wanted to post?

Thanks for posting the videos. I Just gave the DVD to Keith yesterday to convert it over to something we could post but you beat us to it. We are going to vivisect the entire parade into 10 minute increments and post them on YouTube for all who are interested to see. I will do the same with the Rose parade and 83 Macy's performance your mom sent as well. I think we should make another mass appeal to folks to visit the site since the videos are posted now. Perhaps it will bring in some of our more reluctant folks. If you send a note to the '79 email list. I will do the same to the class of '80. Thanks. Scott

I what sport do they stripe a field in meters? Soccer? Even then, only a few lines are striped off, I think. (What the heck do I know ab soccer?) :-) So, in the UNLIKELY) scenerio that a field striped in meters, I guess we need to adjust the step count. Maybe 9 (steps) to 5 (meters)? Work in a Dolly Parton song to see anyone got it?
At 10:54pm on August 1, 2008, Keith Cullen said…
Wouldn't it be 8 to 4.572 meters? :-)
